5870 work in a mac pro?

will the 5870 or 5770 work in a mac pro in both osx and windows 7 bootstrapped?

Not likely.

Netkas.org is the place for this sort of thing, they seem to have supportfor most 4XXX cards.

I've just checked on ati website and they OSX drivers for the 5870 so doea that mean they will work?

According to these chaps http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t189646.html the card will work but with no acceleration and many other limitations. They suggest .3 might have support and lament netkas doesn't have a 5xxx series to work his magic on.

10.6.4 Beta - still no Evergreen 5XXX support.

Mac Mini 10.6.4 has 5XXX support.
