Hi everyone,

Currently got all my parts, built the system, and everything is running fine besides two issues, I'll detail below:

Initial Specs

CPU: Ryzen 9 5900x
Memory: 32 GB G.Skill TridentZ RGB 3200CL14
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1080
Cooler: Asus Ryujin 360
Case: Asus Helios

CPU Temperature (?)

Multiple sources saying different readouts for temperature:

Aura Sync: 49C
HWMonitor: 61C
Ryzen Master: 53C
Open Hardware Monitor: 60C

All of these are at the same time, a little lost on which one is accurate.

Keep in mind these are temperatures in ECO MODE.

Fans are acting haunted

I've noticed that the fans connected to the Ryujin 360 splitter are acting odd. Essentially, the software does control them as expected, however they are ramping up in speed, then reverting back to the set level, repeating this infinitely. I suspected something in the bios but can't find one that results in fixing it.

The questions then:

Which would be the best to measure the temperature, or most accurate?

Is the current temperature too high for idle?

How to ghostbust the haunted fans?

Small addition: Benchmarking it for temperatures beyond idle currently.

Ryzen can makes fans do that, adjust the curve and adjust the spin up time.
Use HWInfo or ryzen master for temps and dont use anything else at the same time.

I'll stick to HWInfo just for its convenience to have open!

I've tried compensating for the temperature in a curve, but even for a quick example if I stick it to the same level all the way to 90 degrees, it still ramps up and down, very strangely

I'd try reseating the cooler you did remove the plastic cover on the heatsink you wouldn't be the first
Ryzen does ramp up and down that's the way it works

So I originally suspected exactly this and checked, no plastic was there, even noticed the plastic on the box, then after that, I suspected "Ah sure, might have messed the paste twice", so redid it, and still in this scenario.

I've really checked the seating of the cooler, I ensured I applied really even pressure with a pair of helping hands to ensure landing was smooth, then of course tightened well.

I'm a little perplexed

Something very, very strange to add.

I removed Eco mode, set it to auto-OC mode in Ryzen Master.

I've restarted, etc.

When idle temperature rising to 68C

When doing a quick light benchmark temperatures sitting at 55C.

I thought maybe something is eating the cpu in the background, but nothing is utilizing it strangely.

Unfortunately the fan ramping is not going away.

Is the pump working properly on the cooler
Fans on the right way round what case fans have you got

Yeah fans are exhausting through top with the 360 rad.

The wiring is all done up right, I'm currently messing with AI suite 3, and I have a feeling it might be the cause for the fans. It seems to be conflicting with the other fan profiles (Including the ryujins own profile), this was causing a weird pattern where it was defaulting to the AI suite's choice, then swapping to armories choice, repeatedly.

I need to test temperatures, and see how they respond to this change, if there's any pump issues I'll be rather unhappy, but guess most would be.

Update:

So the root cause of all of this is as mentioned earlier, the ai suite.

Ai suite was fighting with two things: The Bios settings and the ryujin fan profile.

Bios is set as 100% for the AIO pump to always be at full, but the AI Suite was setting it back to 0%, this is what was responsible for the build-up of heat so quickly.

It was also doing the same with the fans, Ryujin profile with an expected silent curve, but AI Suite at full tilt over all temperatures, causing the haunted fan curve.

Spent a few hours on this so although a little tedious, really happy to discover the root cause of it, everyone's comments helped guide where it was so I appreciate everyone's inputs here!

Also: After a 30 minute Prime95, then 15 minute heaven cycle run immediately (Reason is to warm up the loop, then see how it recovers from max point), Temperatures during Prime95 82C, mid-point of heaven was 74C, end temperature 71C.

I'm fairly happy with the results!

Glad you got it sorted mate now enjoy
