Had a couple of these 1888 pointers, and they are cripling my GTX280 (see below)

Odd behaviour - not seeing that myself.

The 5904s worth 1888 points are the same as the ones that were worth 1680, but were re-benchmarked after some changes were made to Fah_Core 14 to prevent some dodgy drivers (which i posted a link too...!). I noticed a drop in ppd after they introduced the newer version of the core, a drop of between 500 and 1000 points on my GTX280, so expect a points drop from the 1680 units.

Try altering the priority settings, particularly if you are running an SMP client/clients. Try setting the prioirty of the client in the config to 'slightly higher' (you may have already done this). You could also manually change the core priority to normal or above normal using task manager - i find this increases ppd slightly anyway (or at least makes it a lot more consistent). My average for these units is currently about 7200 ppd, with a 50mhz overclock on the shaders. This is probably stating the obvious but if your using the desktop a lot (particularly watching DVDs/videos/flash stuff) ppd takes a massive hit, but it drops for me as well if i do lots of scrolling on web pages/pdfs - general desktop use.

Hope this helps!

Thank's for the reply. I just found it strange as my PC was chugging away on a 768 pointer, went out for the morning/afternoon and came home and my GTX was chugging on the 1888 pointer, and my PC was very sluggish/unresponcive. The GTX has a single core devoted to it, and it seemed to max out every 3 or so seconds.

I had not seen Core : GPU2 NV MT before, and was wondering if a new/beta core was released and the culprit.

I use PriFinitty to set/control my CPU affinity's and priorites. http://www.geocities.com/edgemeal_software/SetAffinity/

I'm currently working on a 5903 with my 8800GTX OC2 and it's doing fine.

Try rebooting your PC - I occasionally find mine will slow up drastically for no apparent reason but is fine after a reboot - gotta love Windows :p

Yep, havent had one in a while. My card also EUEs with the instant NANs problem from a few months back for most of the 353 point units despite the fact that it completed them fine a few months ago before the new, larger WUs. Its a real pain. OCCT shows the card as being fine - no errors at all to report, temps are good... Only thing left is a driver change, but that disrupts much needed report writing time!

(Leaves to get back on with work... :()
