5930k reporting as (max) 3Ghz in Windows Task Manager?

Hi all,

Bit of a weird one this which I don't know is down to a bug in Windows 10 Task manager or something I have done (not seen it before).

Within CPU-Z and HW Monitor my 5930k is reporting at 3.75Ghz which is in line with the settings in the bios (30x125 (125 strap due to XMP)). However Task Manager is reporting the clock speed as 3Ghz, if power plan is set to High performance, or up to 3Ghz if the power plan is left as balanced.

My Cinebench score is coming in at ~1130 ish which looks ok for a 5930k at essentially stock.

I think everything is ok as the main monitoring software shows the correct speeds and system performance feels right.

Just something I haven't come across before (Task manager reports the correct frequencies on both my 8700k and my wife's 2700x).

Extra notes - Fresh install if Windows 10 (same USB boot drive used on my 8700k system) and nothing untowward running in the background.

EDIT: It's been one of those days.. The strap of 125 is causing the difference..

As an aside, task manager is rubbish at reporting clock speeds. I don't even know how it comes to the numbers it gives but they seem to be arbitrary and strongly effected by overclocking.

As Disco P states, I wouldn't put too much stock in the task manager readings. I've long since ignored it and just use the Tools_-> Clocks option in CPU-Z to give me a per core reading of what Mhz it is running at.
