Good afternoon, I've recently purchased a 5960k, gigabyte x99 Ud4, 16gb of team dark 3000mhz ram it's currently in a watercooled loop just for the CPU.

After hours on prime my hottest core was 55 degrees so I'm deciding to overclock it nothing major but I was wondering if you had the rough settings for me just to get to say 4.2 if something higher is easily achievable that'd be great.

Any sort of input would be fantastic.

setting are based on each chip, you can get got clock speed with lower voltage and in some cases not. it is more of trial and run, google what people have been using try hwbot to get a baseline and play around, keep voltage as low as possible.

1.3 is fine as long as temps are good. You should be able to get 4.4 depending on memory. I've dropped mine to 4.3 as I was getting some stability issues due to slower RAM.

1.19 for 4.2. Used aida64 for 20 minutes hottest temp was 65 its in a custom waterloop

I do have 3000mhz ram but I have absolutely no idea about timings or anything

My chip got to 4.4Ghz with 1.296v in Bios (1.299v in window) and 1.92v input.
Try 4.6Ghz with 2.0v input, 1.41v vcore but failed miserably when I tried to test its stability. Never try anything beyond that.
With 1.3v the max temp on the hottest core is 71 Celsius but it hovers around 65-68 most of the time. Custom watercooling loop.

are you saying that the ram speed was affect your achievable cpu overclock?...why would that be?
