Currently on a 5820K, 5960X would just be a slot in upgrade but it's very expensive. Is it worth it for benching and gaming?

Do a bit of video encoding, work stuff on my PC, but tbh 5820K is already plenty fast enough for that. Any 5960X owners got advice?

What do you guys think?

If you don't do a lot of video encoding then the 5820K is fast enough for your needs. If you did want to upgrade to a 5960X for the
extra grunt it give you, I would wait for Broadwell-E to be released which should lower the price of Haswell-E 5960X once its out.

You might even see some Haswell-E 5960Xs for sale in the Members Market once Broadwell-E is released.

With DX12, games might benefit from the Haswell-E 5960X due to the extra cores.

It will probably be next year thought before more games start using DX12.

Cheers guys, if you don't think it would be an advantage now but maybe with Direct X12 games, guess like Sylver123 said it would make more sense to wait until Broadwell -E launches and move to an 8 core then, should be some direct X12 games next year?

Will resist pulling the trigger for a bit longer lol.

Not really worth it over the CPU you have now. 2 cores and 2 extra threads will not really improve gaming to justfiy the cost also for rendering I doubt youll notice any difference in real world usage tbh but benching you may see extra numbers but thats just a e peen thing right? Lol. I guess your just looking for people to reassure you and talk sense into you lol.
