Im considering buying a 5870 to accompany my 5970, or another 5970, i can't decide..

I was getting 80-90fps in Dirt2 with a single 5970 I now get 140+ fps with the 5870 added (10.3 drivers) at max settings, DX11.

I'm still waiting for a decent driver for BFBC2 as the profile update and beta 10.3b drivers deliver 40 fps extra (140 fps DX11) but I get strange black/white tearing/flashing.

Add the 5870, you wont be disappointed.

On eyefinity & crossfireX I never get more than about 20fps.. Seems its broken.. Not tested with 10.3b drivers yet but knowing Ati its probably still not fixed

what case is that in mate? I love my antex p180 but not being able to fit 3 dual slot cards in it is a pain.

that was a raven rv02 which has8 pci slots. 800d works too.

No it's the batmobile slots that are the intakes, so I dont think it would be an issue with their being no gap mate. I am sure others may have no gaps either with Gigabyte motherboards?

How exactly does the 5970 fan intake through the 'bat mobile' holes? The fan is a centrifuge type, pushing air a right angles to the blades so I fail to see how this can be the case .... think about it.

I have a X58-UD5 with 5970+5870 and I have prised the cards apart somehwat with a bit of plastic to help airflow ... makes a difference! I use a custom fan profile with Afterburner and the max gpu temp whilst gaming is one 5970 gpu gets to 85 ... if on auto on its own the 5970 gets to 95 with the default BIOS settings so my Xfire setup is 10c cooler than default
