5970 crossfire

Whats the point then? RPG's are nothing graphically strenious. Don't even get me started on how ugly WOW is.

Wut

Do you know what RPG actually means? The Skyrim and The Witcher are both RPGs, are they ugly or not graphically strenuous?

@OP he should only upgrade if there's really a need to. Have you asked him what his reasons are for thinking he should upgrade?

He only plays skyrim, mass effect series etc and whatever other rpg's are on the horizon. Oh and the sims 3, loves that game as do I. The only OC he has is the i7 920 cpu at 4.2GHz, if vram is still fine with these games then 5970 crossfire is way more powerful than one 7970 in my opinion.

If he is not getting problems with vram he should stick with the HD 5970s.

I own both HD 5970s in quadfire and HD 7970s and still think my 5970s are great.

What resolution is he generally playing at? I have a 5970 and had no problems with 1920 - I have since moved to 2560, the card still runs most games very well with the settings on medium. That said I don't play may RPGs.
Personally I wouldn't bother now, wait for AMD / Nvidia's next releases - AMD rumored to be Q2 this year.
