Cheers everyone. I think I'll try the 10.4's and report back.

@zia your benchmark shows that 80% of your video memory is being used, while mine was using a maximum of 30%.

MSI afterburner also showed the cores only using a tiny percentage usage wise.

Any other ideas?

@Damolee

I tried messing around with the commandline.txt file, but my performance stayed EXACTLY the same :(

Does anyone have any other ideas?

Try right clicking on the config file and ticking read only.

It might over write it with its console port nonsense. FIGHT IT! lol

I hate AMDs drivers with a passion.

Thanks a lot mate for running them. It seems as though your video memory usage has also gone done to 39% from 80%, although the frames per second look approximately the same (the shadows and view distance settings were different on your first bench).

I'm running the steam version, so I assume it has been automatically updated to the latest - given that night shadows is an option in my graphics menu, I think it is the latest.

It seems so bizarre that the performance is so low, as all my other games work brilliantly, and I've tried other drivers :\.

I have read on the steam forums that disabling the windows event log service, running the game once, then re-enabling the service fixes performance issues, although I cannot actually turn the service off in windows 7, so I don't know how they initially tested that.

Thanks for the ideas everyone, I'd be thankful for anymore advice, this is really rustling my jimmies :P
