Guys,

I'm currently running a Dell 3008WFP @ 2560x1600, and getting issues running games on my 260GTX SLI setup.

One issue I have is that the SLI ports are so close together the top card has no room to pull air in and usually ends up 20 degrees hotter than the bottom so I was hoping to replace them with just 1 card

I've been looking into getting a single 5970 as I've seen several reviews showing it to have sufficient fps, however I'm curious for aprox £500: is there a better crossfire/SLI setup, or any other combination thats going to get me more bang for my buck? As the 6970 when its released isnt a dual card will its performance be similar/better and will it have the any effect on the pricing of the 5970? Would it be worth waiting for a dual 6970, and do you have any idea when that might happen, and if thats soon do you have any idea what price that might come in at?

Your advice would be greatly appreicated.

GTX470 Sli would beat the 5970, i think that is your best bet at the £500 mark.

Or possibly GTX460 sli but with the 470 you have the option to go triple sli in the future.

Wait, The new Dual chip card from AMD will be out soon and will mash the 5970 up and will only be slightly more.

470 SLI will produce epic heat and power requirements...
