5970 - HL2 Crash

Hey all,

Literally just finished putting my spanking new system together, having a little trouble with HL2 (the game I always try first when I get new stuff )

Anywhoo, not a good start! The game opens but once it gets to the screen where it says "loading" in the bottom right, it crashes to desktop "HL2 has stopped working".

Anyone else having trouble with W7 64 / 5 series card?

Specs:

920 @ Stock (Like I said, its only just up and running )
6GB 1600Mhz Corsair Dominator
5970 @ stock
Intel SSD
Win 7 64bit

As a side note, Ive just tried CS Source and that runs perfectly (amazingly in fact )

So pretty stumped by the HL2 crash?

I doubt it's your graphics card. It's probably just a steam related installation problem. Try and reinstall it.
