5970 performing poor

I have a HIS 5970 system is below

I5 750 @ 4.0
2x2 1600mhz ddr 3 ram
H50 cooler
1920x1200 rez
PSU is a Coolermaster GX 750w
Crucial RealSSD C300 64GB



Just tried BC2 on it and was hitting below 50fps best and way below that 40's average( very poor) when i run the Mafia 2 benchmark i get 59fps average, does this seem way too low, now a bit ago i had 2x 5870's in x fire and hitting virtually 100fps all the time on bc2.

I have the same psu i used at that time and got decent performance from the x-fire 5870's but i was expecting better performance than this from the card anyone got any ideas.

I don't get any crossfire option in catalyst control panel but when i use gpuz it says i have 2 gpu's there in crossfire.

On Mafia 2, I rarely go below 90fps at 1080p with my 5970. Thats with vsync off of course, I usually have vsync on though so allwys runs at a constant 60fps and no tearing. Are you using cat's 10.8?

I put 10.8's in straight away along with the profiles of 10.8a, just hovers around 59fps on Mafia 2 benchmark.

Run afterburner and see what usage you are getting on the GPUs - probably not crossfired!

When i tried 2 games with afterburner on both gpu's were active on bad company 2 for example they were both on 97%.

Make sure you have all the IQ settings in CCC set to application controlled. In GPUZ what does the " bus interface " read.

It wouldn't be a psu issue would it i have a Coolermaster GX 750w, i had this about 4 months ago and it ran 2x5870's fine.

Still the same fps in Mafia 2 with 10.5 and 10.5 profiles even disabled the usb3/sata3 function of the motherboard thinking that might be a problem.

I did a quick Vantage last night and gpu score was 25146 this was with cpu at 3.35 gig though.

That sounds about right, looks like you have problems with specific games only.

I thought the score seemed ok as i was only getting just over 27k when i had the 2x5870's in x fire it just seems game performance is dire though, just ran bad company 2 on the 10.5's and getting around 90's fps but aa looked dodgy to me as if none was on, vantage seems way slower on these drivers than it did on the 10.8's.

Sorry guys i feel like a price **** to put it blunt realized in mafia i had vsync on was hitting 68fps average is this about right or still too low.

Badcompany 2 on the 10.5's was in the 90's but the AA didn't look that great.

If it makes you feel any better I didn't want to post such an obvious suggestion ...as it seemed to noobish to suggest
68fps sounds about right if on a i7 with two 5870's I think i was mid 90's at that res -10% = 85fps -i5 =70ish fps ...sounds about right to me
Be intrested to see how u find 10.8's on BC2 and as far as doing a clean install it will get u back all the perfomance of the original driver...rather than doing an overlay install.

I can be a n00b from time to time i actually put the 10.8's back in and i prefer the performance of those, Mafia 2 was never super smooth on the 10.5's but is now and with 10.8's I getting 78fps in the benchmark, also i get better performance from arma 2, not tried bc2 as i don't play it that much now.
