5970 plus 2x 5770

i have 2 5770 in cf and i was planing on buying a 5970 , my question is can i run them all in tri/fire and if so what would i gain over 1 x 5970, or should i just sell the 2 5770.?
 
From what I've read 4 way CF doesnt perform great and can even be slower than 3 way.

I would sell the 2x5770 and leave it at that or add one 5850/5870
