5970 upgrade?

Wondering if it is worth upgrading to an ATI 6990, or even the Nvidia 590 coming out? Have seen 5970s go for £300 on the bay and the 6990 on OcUK is £527.99, so would only end up costing around £230ish. The question is, is it worth it?

If you even have to ask that then no it's not worth it in your position.

Granted I don't know much about your uses. Do you play games on 3+ monitors? And at what res?

Game as 1900*1200, so I doubt I would see much difference, but I figured I would ask anyway - I feel like I have had this card for too long.

If it struggles, gives too many low minimum frame rates or your simply not satisfied then yeah, go for it. Otherwise keep that monster for now.

Depends what game really, if I had the disposable income I would buy it. But that's just me.

If you feel that the 5970 really isn't up to the task then I would wait until the non reference versions appear.

Drivers have improved the situation a lot though. I used to not be able to play Metro with everything turned up at 1900*1200, so put the game down for a while. Came back to it a few months ago and it ran super smooth. Guess they must have fixed the drivers at some point.
