5970 VS 6970?

I have a 5970 at the moment. It isn't up to scratch for BF3 Eyefinity gaming (thinking it is the amount of VRAM per core - 1gb).

Got an option to get a 2nd hand 6970 - would this be more powerful for Eyefinity gaming with its single core, but more VRAM?
 
@ 5040x1050 runs about 25-35fps, bf3 auto sets settings to ultra, but its beta and afaik we only have high textures pack.
@ 3840x800 runs more like 35-55 (more so around the 45mark)

I'm waiting on the final version to figure out how much i need a second 6950, but it will be more than playable if you tweak the settings, and dont expect to play it perfect on ultra.

Again this is only on metro, i have been on the other map but only with the first res, and it wasnt pretty, ran the same fps but textures couldnt update quick enough. At times grass was a blank texture.

i5 2500k, 8gb ram etc etc
