Hey guys,

Gather there's quite a few Mark 3 owners on here. Im thinking about whether or not I need a screen protector. In an ideal world, if I could replace the built in Canon screen protector after it got badly scratched for around ~£50-60 then I would roll without a protector.

So I called Canon Elstree and asked what the cost of just replacing the inbuilt screen protector is on a Mark 3.... The lady put me on hold to enquire and came back with - "the whole LCD would need to be replaced" and she didn't have a cost for that - it would vary on a job to job basis. :(

This is contrary to what I believe a few people's opinions are (that Ive read on various forums). I've seen the youtube videos of people replacing their own built in screen protectors on a 5D Mark 2 which caused me to try and source the same replacement parts for a Mark 3 - but I cant find them anywhere.

So now Im back to thinking its worth putting a protector on. I find the market for these kinds of things to be a minefield - does anyone have any advice?

EDIT: So did a tiny bit of research and pulled up the DPreview review (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canon-eos-5d-mark-iii/3) which states the LCD is bonded directly to the rear LCD glass ala iMac 2012. So yeah Im guessing a whole LCD assembly replacement is quite costly, just for the sake of scratches!!
