I have my iPad air connected to the 5ghz on our router. This seems much faster than when on 2.4ghz. Just used the Ookla app and on our Virgin Media 150 meg connection I am getting 146MBps which is pretty good.

Never had this speed on 2.4ghz.

5Ghz is for faster speeds, but with the higher frequency comes less range.

2.4Ghz is typically slower, but has better range, so you'll get a more stable connection further from the router than you would with 5Ghz.

I have this on my Asus RT-N56U router since upgrading the firmware can broadcast both signals at the same time my smart tv shows the signal has being weaker so i have left it on 2.4ghz if aint broke don't fix sort of thing.

From what i have read the 5 ghz channel has more bandwidth more channels to set to doesn't share with cordless phones ect..so less interference but the range is not as far as 2.4ghz.

my mobile can see it and tvs but not my Asus X552C laptop, not sure why it's only a few months old

Funny I just checked mine and it was on the 2.4, flipped to the 5Ghz and wow everything loads faster

In other news: chocolate melts. :p

I am doing some testing on the Virgin Super Hub 2 that we've received. 5Ghz is only faster than 2.4Ghz at 217Mbps, not at 450Mbps in the location I am working on.
