Hi,

I am looking to build a new rig around September time and am going to throw some money at it to get something that will last for 2-3 years.

I currently use the following:

I7 2600 @ 4.6 (Corsair H50 liquid cooling kit)
Gigabyte Z77 UD5 MB
4MB average ram
GTX 590 graphics
120mb ssd for games and various normal other HD (6 in total)
30'' Dell monitor
CM Cosmos S case
1200w psu

The system is 95% pure gaming.

I would like to go 3 x 30'' monitor so that sucks up roughly £2k right there but I am struggling on how to spend the rest. I'd like 2xGTX690 as i am not sure that 1 will handle 3x30'' (anyone know?) at 2500x1600 with all the candy on but with the screens that basically wipes out my budget so is it best to just to get 1 690 OR is there something else coming within say 6 months (i will wait if i have to) that is better?

Will also be wanting to upgrade the CPU but unless i got top of the range for c£800 there doesnt seem to be much difference over what i already have.

I will of course be putting memory up to 16gb.

So what the best way to get 3x30 monitors running well for my £5k ??

Thanks in advance

To be honest, I'd just get a 690 and see what you can run off of it in terms of 3x30" monitors, get the monitors and 1 690 first, if you aren't satisfied then you can get another 690, if it is still getting held back and you are convinced to spend all your money (:D) then this (reusing PSU and storage)

To be honest you probably would see no noticeable difference. But the extra PCI lanes could help, and if the money is aside already, you could sell everything you don't need from the rebuild.
YOUR BASKET
1 x OcUK GeForce GTX 690 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £859.99
1 x Intel Core i7-3930K 3.20GHz (Sandybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail £459.95
1 x Asus Rampage IV Extreme Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard £334.99
1 x Samsung Green 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual/Quad Channel Kit (MV-3V4G3D/US) £113.98
1 x Antec 1100 Eleven Hundred Ultimate Gaming Tower Case - Black £89.99
1 x Phanteks PH-TC14PE CPU Cooler - Blue (Socket LGA 2011/1155/1156/1366/775/AMD AM2/2+/AM3) £66.98
Total : £1,940.88 (includes shipping : £12.50).

Even £1k would be "throwing money at" a computer. Yes, you want 3 enormous screens, there's a good chunk of your cash gone.
I'd consider something a bit more special than an antec 1100 for the case.
For "95% gaming" you STILL don't need an i7, even with the cash to blow on it. Get an i5.

The rest of the suggested bits, definitely. Depending what storage you have an SSD would be a decent purchase, something like a 500GB drive is about £270ish now.

For the amount of money you are looking at spending I'd almost certainly want 3D as well. Get some big active 3D screens.

I would also go with 3x570s 4gb Versions I think i read somewhere it sales better etc? wish I had 5k to spend on a rig :( lol
