USB signals are pretty fast so you won't notice the latency. The max time a transmission can take is 26ns and that's just 1/40 of a millisecond. Id imagine the majority of USB delays occur in the interfaces between CPU and ram and things rather than travelling down cables.

5M is About the maximum length you can use. USB repeaters can alleviate this timing issue if it does cause problems.

As for the product The M-M suggests its a male USB A to male USB A and not like it is in the second image.

Response time is not an issue, but loss of data might be depending on the cable quality. Personally I had no issues running a 500hz mouse and standard USB keyboard over 5m for fps gaming (Quake).
