Hi All

Could you please help me out with a spec for a non gaming (mostly office with a little photoshop) PC build for my sister. Preferably around 600.

Need monitor in that if possible.

Many Thanks.

can save money if you didnt want a curve screen and windows pen drives were out of stock if you needed it, but for what its to be used for this is more than enough, went for a quad over an intel dual core as it be faster, newer and just nice to have, the 1030 should be enough for everything aswell.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £601.18
(includes shipping: £12.30)

Intel Coffee Lake CPU/board with integrated graphics would also be an option. Perhaps a six-core with a non-overclocking board. They should be available 5th October if you can wait to compare with Ryzen + GPU then.

But the AMD AM4 platform will have more longevity (if you get a decent motherboard that can hopefully handle new faster CPUs).

Thanks Exo, what changes would you suggest if we took the monitor out for a bit more breathing room?

well if you was to take that monitor out then something under £100 for another monitor or if you was to take the monitor out all together then you could swap the ssd i chosen for a larger one like the 525gb from same brand.. unless its a works computer that never deletes anything completely then 275gb should be enough anyways.

while danny has put up a nice build, unless your sister is ever going to do gaming or something that requires a 1600 or even the 1400 orbital suggested then i see no reason to spend the extra, the straight up quad would be fine and while SFX power supplies cost a bit more, that case can basically be placed anywhere without being noticed really, i used to have a CIT branded one of same style, was really nice system for what it was(haswell or something) and the case fitted nicely behind my monitor out the way or to the side without taking up much space, only sold it because i was going through computers and wanted a gaming type, fitted an optical and a 3.5 drive and given the 1030 i chosen is same price as a full height, it isnt putting you at a loss.

either way we have spec couple systems that would be plenty if not overkill, me personally would just buy an old decent HP Elite SFF and fit the 1030 graphics card in it, new wise what i chose without being bias, but the choice is yours what you would prefer.
