Just got in from our usual Monday night 6 a side game (we actually won 2-1 :O)

I'm going to have to vent a bit of anger on here and its a bit long winded so bear with me. At 1-1 with about 10mins to go their keeper throws the ball out over arm (it in fact goes over two of our players) in our rules the GK must roll the ball out underarm. This should have resulted in an indirect free kick 2 yards out of the keepers area. Instead the referee played on until one of their players the ran the ball out for a throw near our own area.

I said to the referee is that not a foul and should it not be a free kick. He said no take the throw-in, i was a bit confused so i asked what would have happened if the ball had not been ran out and their player had kept the ball in? He said it would have been an indirect free kick. So i proceeded to ask why has he not given a free kick then. To be told to "**** Off" and take the free kick.

***Fully star out all swear words***

Now at no point up until now had i felt that i was rude or shouting I was simply, as captain of the team, questioning the decision.

TLDR revsion:

I question a referees decision only to be told to "**** Off"

***Fully star out all swear words***

Was i wrong in questioning the decision and is there any formal way of complaining about an FA trained referee outside of the company running the league?

Some interesting replies here and it looks like the level of refereeing is poor across the board.

It is just a soccer zone run league but as somebody has stated they are still FA Affiliated and as such should only employ FA qualified referees. (if you get sent off in a 6 aside game you can be banned for an 11 aside Sunday league match)

I can understand that referees are only human, but when they make mistake after mistake and nothing is done about it then its clear that the system is wrong. The guy only made two mistakes the whole game that i can remember (one being the one stated above and another was that he booked one of their players for playing on after he had given a foul, he had not blown a whistle only shouted so it was a bit harsh, at the end of the game though he did say he was not going to put the yellow through) I just found that being sworn at by an official was highly out of order. Im going to let the league know but they wont do anything about it so Im also going to email the Cheshire FA.

lol.

There are far more rules in rugby, there is just a lot more discipline with regards only the captain speaking (note speaking not getting up in his face and shouting) to the ref.

I did not get in his face and shout, as captain i spoke to him. We were the first game that night and week so i don't know about people getting on at him.

If he did his job right he would not get hassle, if he carried on without getting told he would make the same mistake over and over. Any other career you make too many mistakes in your job you get the sack.

Also its nice to be back from a ban for posting an "f" followed by 3 stars.

I know, I wasn't talking about your particular incident. Was just replying to the implication that rugby is less important therefore people don't complain to the ref.

Ah sorry dude.

I agree that there is a lot more respect in rugby towards the official (I can only apply this to Rugby League).

I think a big difference is that if a player is abusive towards an official in Rugby they will get punished straight away and the official will get the full backing of the RFL. In football the FA don't seem to back up their officials.

The Ref at you local five aside won't be getting paid he is as amature as you are and giving up his time so you can have an official at your match, would you rather play without?

People moan that a poor decision can cost them the game but forget that what in reality probably cost them the game was a mistake by one of them be it a misplaced pass or a wayward shot. It seems we expect an amature ref to be perfect and get every call 100% yet don't expect ourselves to perform to the same standards.

They are getting paid.
They should be FA qualified.
They are a representative of the FA and the company they are refereeing for.

I don't pay the company running the league to have an "official" to swear at me.

If I get booked for swearing (which apparently you can say what you want to an opposing player just not the ref) then I have to pay a fine. If I get sent off by a crap ref I have to pay a bigger fine and also face a ban not only in that league but in any other league I may be in.

If one of my players makes a mistake he will hold his hand up and apologies to the rest of the team and we get on with the game. If i ref makes a mistake they wont admit they made a mistake and then will carry on making mistakes.

At the bottom level referee's get a fee not paid it's a tiny sum of money for travelling to officiate a match where they get roundly abused by all and sundry for not being world class.

They get paid per game.

They choose to referee no body makes them, any other career in the world if your crap at your job you get sacked.
