Just hit the update button the only new software available for me is the new Safari 4.0.5 update - no 10.6.3 update

It's a very fair point. The recent Mac Pros have been crazy prices compared to the 2008 gen.

Workstation class hardware. Premium prices are good but you gotta be (close to) the cutting edge.

Even the 2008 models were quite highly priced but the Nehalems just went a step further.

I got a 8-Core for around £1700, you can just about get a quad-core Nehalem for that. And it doesn't help that the clock speeds are relatively low.

Maybe apple will split the mac pro line up like they did with the macbooks... like have more versions. a server grade spec and a spec slightly better than a imac just in between, that would sell. They need to go something with this whole steam announcement

Well the CPU turned up, just not in the Mac Pro. I guess Apple want to wait a little more before jumping ship.

I was thinking this earlier, I reckon that's what they're going to do. Either just before or just after they're going to release the new MBPs touting them as graphics powerhouses that'll eat up any game with the new XXX GPU.

And then the following Tuesday the Apple store will go down and we shall see the iWorld. This will be a planet created by Steve Jobs and will allow only the fittest Mac owners to gain entry.

The first round qualification process for iWorld will consist of several hundred person races - with 10 winners of each being declared 'Screamers' who then move onto the next stage.

I'm bored and want these new Mac Pros to come out. To then find out I can't afford them anyway.

As much as I'd love one, my 8core 2.8ghz MP has been going strong since day 1 and will be for a good few more years!

Before you think of upgrading, just get a few more GB ram and an SSD drive. The SSD makes it an absolute beast!
