6-pin molex nightmare!!

So I sold my Sapphire X1950 Pro, that had the two 4-pin to one 6-Pin converter with it, Thinking that any graphics card I bought would also have this in the bundle. WRONG! The HIS x1950 Pro does not have this. So.. I bought one from ebay, and waited (with no PC) for it to arrive a week. It came today and it DOESN'T FIT  Looks right, all the notches line up etc, and it goes in half way, but no more. You can try and force it but it's not going anywhere :(
There's only one seller of these on ebay, and I don't know what/where else to do or to get one :( Can anyone help?

there is an alternative seller do a search for 6 pin molex.

also i would remove that name as it may be classed as a competitor

Edit: have you looked into the 6 pin plug itself to see if anything is blocking it?

There's definetly nothing blocking the plugs. Overclockers are out of stock of that item. It's frustrating when your whole system is good to go but just one connector is holding you back

yer lol, oh well i can recommend a few sites but, like just about all of them out there, they have ridiculous P & P.

Have a look at this thread:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17673756

Quote: ( Incidently, the 6-pin to 4-pin power convertor that came with the card was an absolute bitch to fit. It took a huge amount of force to get the plug in; I thought I was going to snap the board. How did anyone else get on? Is it a crap plug or crap socket? )

I am not suggesting to force it maybe they just tight fitting ?

A well known high-street retailer (sounds like a cartographic Butlins) of electronic bits and pieces lists them on their website as well, you might be able to pick one up in store? If there is one close by.

I've found them on numerous other sites, but I don't want to pay £4 plus a stupid amount of postage (£5 from some  ) They have standard postal charges. Silly when this connector must weigh less than 50 grams.

Oh Dutch, thanks for bringing that thread to my attention. I really used quite a lot of force trying to make the connector fit, but I don't want to use any more force for fear of bending the pins. It goes in half-way easy enough, then it just will not budge whatsoever.

I have a plan, but not sure whether to go ahead with it? The pins inside the 6-pin connector I have now, are a good couple of mm from the plastic edge of the plug. I could saw off the plastic overlip so that It doesn't have to be pushed in all the way to connect, but this seems to me a bit of a bodge job, which I don't like on my PC!!

yer i know, thats why i barely by from e-tailers, unless im getting a whole load of things cos i think £5-8 for postage is ridiculous specially when all i want is one single 120mm fan

are the individual 'plugs' the correct shape? i bought one from a famous electronics chain (can't name them, i guess), but it didn't quite fit (similarly, went around halfway in) - forced it, blew the psu (a tagan).

i presume there's two types, with the replacement one fitting perfectly. looking at the original, the shapes of the 'plugs' differed, hence me having to force it to fit (it went half way because of the cheap plastic - two of the square plugs were squashed somewhat).

Right, after much filing, farting about, and a LOT of force, I've managed to bodge the plug in. A cheap, nasty cast of the plug is the problem. Seems to be running fine, plays HL2 lost coast with everything maxed and hasn't thrown a wobbly so I think it's getting enough juice

its ok i know beast from another forum to do with his car (or drive statue as his is at the minute) i come on hear and find him :D the Username username is one i use very often when i can and it is also my b2142 tag.

Sorry i will repeat slowly for the hard of understanding :D

Beast has a fiat coupe that is currently undergoing repairs and has clutered his drive for a while. i know him from that forum. he owns a chinchilla called Willy chin hence the fur comment.

sorry i have draged this way off topic.

in short get one off ebay and puch really hard becasue they are crap. :D

I should have got Willy Chin to chew the Plug into the right shape :D Username must be from The fiat coupe forum/fiat forum. They're all a bit weird and LOVE spam :p

Anyway let's wrap this thread up, Got the card working now, and all is well

Got home to finish off my brother in law's computer I am building for him, Went to instal my old 7800gt only to find the cheap "l33t" gamer case he wanted and it's integrated psu didn't have a 6 pin PCI connector! Arghhh!!!!

But that high street electronic bit & bobs shop came to the rescue. Had a look on their website and they had one. Better still you can check wich oneof their shops have them in store by putting your post code in, never knew there was one 1.6 miles away with 3 on the shelves. :D

Bonus - it works :D :D
