Hi Guy

the current audio setup at work is annoying the MD, he's asked me to find a solution where we can put a speaker (or 2) under every bank of sales desks

there are 6 bank of desks in total and i want a central device to control the audio, the player would need Radio,CD and a docking station for a ipod if possible

the ability to mute each speaker independently would also be good

how would you guys do this?

You could just use a normal mini system with doc etc hooked up to something like this

Would need a fair bit of grunt to power all those speakers though. Mind you im guessing they wouldn't be wanting them loud anyway.

Should be fine then, just stick a little micro system on the end, something like the YAMAHA CRX550 CD/DAB/DAB+/FM/iPOD MICRO HIFI

Denby, what you described needs mono speakers under each desk. Stereo music mixes put vocalists and musicians at different places across the sound stage. By using a simple stereo system and just separating them, one desk will hear more drums while another hears more vocal. Is that what you really want?

There are products that will give you mono sound and individual speaker muting. They are commercial though because this sort of thing isn't needed in the domestic market. So, it will cost more than a simple stereo that doesn't really do what your boss wants.

True, although maybe look for a system that lets you output in mono. That would work. I know my amp allows that.
