Just ordered 1 of these as I have no 8 pin PCI-E connector on my PSU, fairly sure its fine, but just checking its ok ?

I was going to use a 2x Molex to 8pin PCI-E but I thought this 1 might be better ??

It looks a bit of a cheat. Normally you would need two 6-pin connectors to power an 8-pin, or so I thought, so I think you'd be at risk of not giving your card sufficient power. I don't know for sure though, but certainly 8-pin connectors would be redundant if 6-pin connectors supplied sufficient power.

Well you'd have thought so wouldnt you, but I hear the extra 2 pins on the 8 pin plug are actually both earths.

As it happens I needed some more Watts here so I bought a new modular SLI PSU and it came with 2x6pin and 2x8 pin leads but all of them at the PSU end were 6 pin. So there is not even any extra wires there for more current. The other 2x 0v's at the 8 pin end are either just a link wire (like needed for the overclock ATI trick) or are just daisy chained off the existing 0v's. So there is no point to it whatsoever and could have been just tracked on the PCB on these cards.
So if you have enough Watts you will be fine using an adaptor.
