Hi all,

so i need to put a large TV in one of our meeting rooms.
Thinking of the viewing distance for the person sitting the furthest away from the TV (about 4m), i reckon 60". But 1080p or 4k? If a webpage or spreadsheet is being viewed from a connected laptop on a 4k screen then text would likely be too small to read. If i reduce the resolution to effectively increase the size of text then as it's not native res it might look ropey.

The flip-side is if we present imagery to a 4k TV it then it will look really sweet.

Your thoughts would be appreciated, thanks :)

ps....altering icon/text size in windows isn't an option as its a general meeting room where anyone could connect a laptop. Can't expect all users to do that, then revert back again.

You have sort of answered you own question. I sit about 45cm from a 40" 4k screen at work and a 32" 4k screen at home and find reading spreadsheets fine at that distance.

I suspect i would struggle looking at them even on a 60" screen from 4m away.

I disagree. Go 4K as you can always scale up text and charts or set the resolution to 1080p, while still having 4K mode available for videos.

But i made that point in the OP. Multiple users would have to scale up their settings; most barely know how to turn their laptops on.
Then they'd have to scale them back down to view them effectively on their laptop screens.
