Hi can someone recommend a good backlit keyboard for £60-£65 I have been using an old Microsoft one for the last few years and am looking for something mainly for gaming and I would like lights :) , also I like the feel of laptop keyboards so something similar would be nice but not essential and one that is easy to keep clean so not too shiny. Thanks

Microsoft Sidewinder X6. OCUK don't stock them anymore, but google is your friend. Very much like a laptop keyboard with soft/short travel keys. Its what I have and you can change the lumination level with one of the dials on the keyboard. If you are pushed for space you can also detach the numpad and store it away, or even move it to the left of the keyboard turning it into a bank of macro keys. Be warned tho, the binding process for the keys is a little irritating to figure it out, but once you get how it works its easy as pie to bind them.

+1 for Microsoft sidewinder x6. I dont own it but have read a few reviews, all good things, do a google!
I love my Razer Taratula but hard to get hold of now I guess. It's not got backlit keys but it is awsome kit. Solid built quality.

Like the look of that logitech Scary! Nice choice. Seems it's overdue stock wise, should be worth a look.

I would have bought the Microsoft Sidewinder x6 had it had legs, I need the keyboard to go over the base of my monitor stand so I still have desk space to eat my supper at my table and avoid idle chit chat with the husband :D I could improvise I suppose though if it is really worth it. After a good look on OcUK I would be between the Cyborg V7 and TT Esports Challenger Pro but if you think the x6 is better I will go for that. Cant afford the Logitech one above as it will be max £65 as I have other stuff to get.

Whatever your choice, you'll end up with a decent keyboard. Might be worth going to find a local megastore that deals with the selling of many PC components and parts to see if they can Demo a board for you!

that Sidewinder x6 looks awsome and very good price

found it for £37 through google
What a bargain

Its definitely a solid build. I had a G15 before my x6 and the only thing I miss is the screen. Apart from that, the x6 is fantastic in every way!

Thanks all I have gone for the Sidewinder X6, £40 inc postage, could have got it cheaper but hadn't heard of the retailers that were cheaper. Still looks like good value for money to me. Managed to get an Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card with the change too, was having problems with my 6 year old X-fi Music edition card, just hope the sound is as good with headphones.

I think you made a good choice moving away from Creative, as they have become lazy in recent years with regards to drivers. I'm still using a creative card and it has nowhere close to the features that it had when I was running windows XP. I'm on Windows 7 now and it is lacking in the options provided by the driver, and 5.1 sound replication isn't as accurate as I feel it could be.

As for pvr123's suggestion of the x4, I got to try both before I bought mine and I have to say that the x4 felt that it was made from lower grade materials than the x6, much the same for the lower grade sidewinder mice that I got to play with. Tacky and plastic.

I would probably take the Sidewinder X4 over the X6 to be honest.

I take this back, the X6 is much better for the price difference, just compared two now - the X6 is better.

Might actually get one for myself for these prices sub £40 looks good.

How does the X6 do with the ghosting?

Good good I was worried I had made the wrong decision going for a £20 doing card as my X-Fi was about £50 I think so don't want to be going backwards. I only use headphones (sennheiser HD-570) so thought the Xonar would be better because of the headphone amp and Dolby headphone surround sound. It was a rushed choice but will hopefully not disappoint.

As for the X6 I couldn't find many negative comments regarding them and as I use a Microsoft one just now (digital media 3000) which I have had no problems with at all, it's just a bit erm... plain. I have had a few Saitek ones 2 cyborg 5's and a 7 and had issues with them all, driver wise on the 5's and the 7 my I key just stopped working. Although that was 3 years ago so they may be better now.

I have the X6 and its a great keyboard. really nice to type on - the keys are really smooth and it has a tonne of macros. i find the seperate number pad realyl useful as i can remove it on a small desk so that i can put my plate/bowl there for eating. the calculator key is really useful too.
