60+ Year old gamers?

52 here and have gamed most of my life, currently have no PC as it is in bits for an upgrade but I’m playing fallout 4, bought 76 in the sale and will be buying Starfield when it comes out.
I am feeling the age slowing my reflexes a bit but more than anything I just noticed my focus wasn’t what it was, playing CS in leagues I noticed I’d be thinking about what I’m having for dinner as a bunch run past me lol.
It’s kind of nice to see so many still playing, why shouldn’t we? I’m hoping I’m still around to see the next big leap, possibly something in VR….ready player one would be right up my street

52 and severely sight impaired with MS. I still game (since the spectrum day) but have to choose a game that I know really well (GTAV/Online) or easy games that have larger fonts. (my biggest gripe is games that don't allow scaling of text)
Currently playing My time at Sandrock and Portia. However, slowing down on some of the games I used to play.
I was a big flight simmer back in the day and that is not something I can do. Which I miss.
As for still feeling young yeah. I don't feel 52 but Glastonbury this year killed me, even in accessible camping.
Still build my PC's though with the help of my Mrs.

Also, Funerals are getting more interesting now. I have my music sorted for when I go and it's mostly 90's Trance. With Energy 52 - Cafe Del mar for when my coffin goes through the hatch LOL

I don't really play anything except L4D! You can always get a game, loads of custom maps and mods and the community is still relatively a great place to be.

You can load straight into a game, no need to spend hours selecting weapons loadouts or whether you want your skin to have a pretty colours - play for 5mins or several hours - no pressure. And newb haxors aren't really a problem and if you do get the odd haxor, they swiftly get kicked.

Playing a lot with these atm: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/hmsbounty

If anyone wants a game: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198011839955/

I’m a spring chicken at 50 so games have been around the home since a very early age, but started in earnest with a speccie. My dad seems to play Skyrim pretty much everyday according to the Steam notifications. He bought red dead recently but not sure his laptop is up to it.

Almost 69, ACC/AC/AMS2/Pcars 1 and 2, GTAV, Starfield when it's released, Quest2 for racing, and the half life game. Cod, GT7 on PS5, though have a stack of other games on console that my grandchildren play.

Played games since I was old enough to go in arcades! Then the Spectrum came along. I'm almost 60 and semi retired and game daily on PC. Usually FP Shooter at present Warzone/ DMZ. Will only stop gaming when brain or body fails me :)

Iracing is extremely hard game to play, you went in at the deep end. Requires full commit that game. The amount of times I spun a mx5 like its on ice.

There are games applicable, something turn based not so much reaction twitch gaming type gameplay which can easily end up nonsense. I cant think of some immediately but you should try all the big free ones to start, world of warships ? Dont think free means it wont be good, meta changed. Wish I had managed to get my dad into playing these tbh

Get that one queued download on steam and have a go asap. If you dont like it after 10 or 30 mins then so be it, half the deal is trying different types for what works.

I think gaming should be encouraged as people age, nothing like keeping reactions up and your mind ticking over in strategy games, RPGs or the like.

If I get to a point I can't get about much I want Alexa or something controlling everything and my head in a VR set.

61 next month. Play mainly racing and flight sim. @Baldbloke, I remember ETI. Religious reading for me as a teenager. Quick Google has thrown up this https://worldradiohistory.com/ETI_Magazine.htm

Spent hours and hours reading ETI. Didn't fully understand the circuit diagrams and explanations of circuits back then. I do now. Fat lot of good that understanding is to me nowadays with billions of transistors on a single chip and sub miniature surface components on multi-layered pcbs.

Oh. them was the days when you could slap together an electronic gizmo with flashing lights using a soldering iron and impress your friends no end. :)

I'd like to get into flight sims but I'm not sure about the learning curve. It is something I'd have to tackle and be patient with I suspect. Besides I've already got one full racing sim kit in my front lounge. Don't have the room for a flight sim kit. Unless, of course, I could chuck out all my furniture and just have both sets of sim gear in the lounge. (Hmmm. Thinks..... How can I break this to the missus?)
