I am in the market for a new rig for my 11 year old son

He plays all types of games so i am in the need of cpu / mobo / ram / cooler i have case psu hard drive and Gcard so what do you guys think.

i5 bundle
i7 bundle
5820k bundle

any input would be great thank's

Hi

What size motherboard does the case take ?

A Skylake i5 6600K would be a good cpu if He is only gaming. For other things like Video editing/Game streaming then an i7 would help.

he has my old nzxt phantom case.

forgot to add that i would like a cpu that will be good enough when the rift comes out i have 2 sons what will nag me to death for that when mine arrives

If you want an i7 then both Skylake and Haswell-E are within reach. The Skylake bundle works out cheaper overall. You should also get free delivery when you login to your account assuming you are mainland uk.

I don't know much about oculus rift, so I have no idea what specs are required. Both will perform well for gaming though, so I will let you decide which one you want to go with.

I just bought the following parts:

i5-6400
MSI Z170m Mortar Motherboard
8gb 3000mhz DDR4 RAM
Gigabyte GTX 960 4gb GPU
240gb SSD
Aercool QS-180 case
TP Link WiFi card (you can remove this if you just use a wired connection)

£630~ including shipping.

Think i may take the plunge for the 5820k price difference if not that much

Which would you go for?

If they were priced the same then Haswell-E would be a no brainer. For gaming there will be very little difference between the two cpu's. The i7 5820K has the extra cpu cores, so if the pc ever gets used for more cpu intensive stuff then it will perform better.

For the sake of £46 I would probably go with the i7 5820K setup.

LordPablo

How if that bundle doing for gaming and so on and whats your temps

I haven't tried any AAA games yet, but it runs TF2 and CS:GO smoother then a babies behind!

Temps I need to check, again when I try out some AAA games. I also only have 1 rear exhaust fan at the moment, I need to add in a front fan.

You can chuck in a better GPU, but the 960 is great bang-for-buck :)

I'm on a 1600x1200 screen btw.

games my kids are playing at the moment are COD BO3 ..WOW ..Witcher 3 and GTA5

WOW is no problem, even my old machine could run that pretty damn well!

As for the other titles, I'd take a good guess and say yea, it should play them pretty well!

Erm, not wanting to pry, but you let your 11 year old play Witcher 3?!
