Hey guys,

I think my Graphics card is on the way out as it is showing signs of artifacting and some freezing, all the excuses I need to upgrade my system :) Had my 5870 for three years now I guess and to be fair it has served me extremely well.

So.. I'm thinking I would also take the opportunity to upgrade some more of my ageing components (existing rig in sig), specifically:

- Graphics card
- Motherboard
- CPU
- SSD Boot disk (to one single 256gb preferably)

- My existing power supply (OCZ 700w) has worked perfectly fine to date. But I wonder if I should consider upgrading this too?

I want decent performance so happy to spend £600 - 750.

Any idea's would be appreciated. Cheers.

Thanks for the responses. Can I ask what are the differences between the motherboards (apart from price?):

- Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £112.99

&

- Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £83.99

The Z77X is sli/xfire capable.

There are cheaper heatsink alternatives but ideally we need to know your case to make sure we pick one that fits. You can use the stock intel heatsink but to overclock the CPU an aftermarket heatsink is advisable. You can also OC the GPU very easily for extra performance, I included some Low profile RAM that would fit under any heatsink, you could consider selling off your old mobo bundle to recoup some cash

ASUS P7P55D LE ATX / i5 750 @ 4.1ghz / H100/ ATI RADEON 5870 GFX / RAID 0 Kingston 40gb ssd x2 / Corsair Vengeance 8gb RAM / Asus Xonar d1 / 27" Hazro / Razer Naga Epic / logitech g15 Keyboard/ Fractual Arc midi case

I think you missed this mate. :D

Thanks all for your comments. I think I will go for the cheaper mobo as I only want a single gpu setup. Will do a bit more research and hopefully place an order by the weekend.

At the start I did, edited before you pointed it out lol Atleast I remembered the free P&P hey ;)

Might be worth getting some Low profile RAM and let the old stuff go with the old mobo and CPU to help sell it. Low Profile is easier to live with and the aggressive heatspreaders dont really do anything to be honest

One of the reasons I bought the H100 was the room it affords around the motherboard to accommodate my huge ass RAM. If I was to buy more RAM i would prob buy low profile next time for sure.
