Offered to help a mate build a PC. Needs everything bar monitor in this budget as I have an old monitor he can have. He would consider 2nd hand options also.
He’d like to game on it as escape from kids time. Game most interested in for future is civ 7 which I’m assuming will be CPU demanding more than GPU. The monitor I can give him is 1080p and no need to spec higher gaming than that, but I doubt at that budget better is on cards anyway.

What would the hive mind suggest?

Interesting left field option. How well do they function docked on normal pc use? I dont honestly think he’d mobile game tbh, so perhaps he’d be paying more for that functionality that wouldn’t use?

Rx 6600 £180 as a baseline for decent 1080p gaming which ch I've left out the build below.

7600 comes with a cooler do could do op that till later and is slightly overpriced. , PSU will give plenty of options for future upgrades but could save money there.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £607.20 (includes delivery: £0.00)

that looks a nice little build. I might see if he can find any decent deals on something second hand for GPU when the 5000 series hits, but I'm sure that would suit him well with the RX6600 anyway in all honesty

thanks

He’d need keyboard and mouse, suspect speakers or headset too tbh. I might have some old speakers I can donate or a headset in the loft junk box, depends when I last donated my junk to my dad
