1. id like a decent 19"-20" screen. dell always seem to produce good screens. is this ok

2. 8600 GT not the best i know but eventually i will change it. will this be enough to get me by. want to play CS:S with a good frame rate. and like to play newer games like COD4 but i understand if that may be out of range for this budget.

3.E2180 even though im not OCing will this be enough to do everything i want?

4. Probably most importantly 380W is that deffinatly enough juice for the system?

many thanks to all

If i were you i'd rethink the monitor on that budget.

If you go with a temporary CRT monitor, you could squeeze in a better graphics card ( 8800GT ) which would play even crysis on high, and be fairly futureproof.

Also, you could then upgrade the processor to a better model, as 2Ghz is quite weak in this day and age.

I would concentrate on a high end tower for now, and save up for a better monitor in the future.

Btw - OCUK do a 17" CRT monitor for like £20.

add xfire : kojez

i could strech the budget to get a

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 (2.33) or E6750 (2.66)

but this will still leave 8600 gt. which i can upgrade later.

i dont have a screen and as thats the bit you have to spend all day looking at, so i wouldnt mind a half decent screen.

im not set on this build. is there a better spec you could do for me?

cheers

The E6750 is far better in terms of future proofing, there's already games demanding 2.3Ghz or there abouts, so you'd be investing in obsolete hardware getting the original processor, the e6750 will last you longer in terms of performance.

Have you built before?

Not particularly, i've not built much either. Just know a fair bit cause i'm always trawling these forums.

You got xfire?

or msn ?

If you're not overclocking, why not downgrade the motherboard to an IP35-e? Should save you £20. Also, the 8600gt really isn't good. If you want a lower-end card, your money would go much much further if you got an ati card, such as a low end X1950 pro like this one. Or if you spend a bit more you could get a 3850 or 3870, which look like being great cards at lowish resolutions.

Bit over budget but a better spec, you could downgrade to the IP-35E if your not overclocking aswell to bring the price down a little bit :)

Get the 3850 if you can - it's much better than the 8600gt. Agree with the previous comments about the monitor being too much as well.

i only want a 19-20inch monitor, anything else will be too big, i dont know why some1 has speced a 24" model.

any ideas for a good 19-20" screen for less then £200

Well i thought if you were paying £200 for a 20" why not get a 24" for the same price, obviously my effort isnt of any help at all so ill leave the thread and you to make your own spec.
