Hey folks new here and looking for some advice. Ive been looking through a lot of threads and there is just so much choice  for builds.

Anyway what im looking for is a rig with plenty of room to expand on in the future. Im not looking to be able to play new games on their highest settings (not that I would be able to on this budget anyway) but it would be ace to be able to down the line if I wanted to spend more on and upgrade.

At the, moment ill be happy with just playing games on medium/low settings.

I already have a monitor and the OS so all good there. I currently have a brand new nvidia GT 630 GPU to start me off with as well.

Thanks folks.

Why dont you go for something like this. You can choose a few extras and can be upgraded at a later stage.

This system is allmost the same as mine in specs and I can play games like bf3 mw3 grid 2 on ultra settings with 30 - 40 fps at 1080p .

I'm just slightly over budget, but this is my suggestion. It get's you one of the latest generation Haswell Core i5's with a full size motherboard that should give plenty of space for future expansion.

I've included a couple of extra case fans as the case only looks to come with a single fan. As you cant really overclock the CPU on this spec I've just left it with the stock CPU cooler but you could always consider adding an aftermarket one later. This spec also gets you an SSD which will make a huge difference to the overall speed of the system. The 7850 will absoultely decimate your 630 and let you play most games on medium - high settings straight away.

Thank you for your suggedtions folks I really appreciate your time. With that being said I think I preffer the Intel option as ive generally heard better things for intel over amd. After some more possitive news today (i.e. premission from the mrs :D)I can strech the budget and extra £200, if I stick with the Intel suggestion what would you guys add/change?

Still a small amount over budget but I've modified my origional spec to this. It's still the latest gen Intel Chip but now upto a 4670k with a Z87 board and a better CPU cooler so you can do some decent overclocking. I've also upped the GPU from a 7850 to a 7870 and put a slightly bigger PSU in there to cope with any future expansion.

I've also included a better case just to generally give you more room.

I didn't do a huge amount of reasearch on the CPU cooler so you could potentially save money on that by going for something cheaper bringing it back under budget. I'd personally mount the two extra fans so you have one on one of the side intake mounts and one in the roof. That way the case has a 140mm + 120mm intake, and 2 120mm exhausts. Should give good airflow and positive pressure.
