Hey Guys,

Its been a while and I have a new budget and new requirements to work around for my new build and would greatly appreciate any ideas you guys have or suggestions to take on board.

I am looking to build a gaming rig for right around the £600 mark, I will NOT be needing a monitor or any other peripherals apart from a cheap keyboard and mouse.

I will NOT be overclocking the CPU so the stock heatsink/fan will do perfectly fine.

Ok, I do have a few things that I WANT in the build other than that, whatever you suggest I will be VERY happy with!.

1. intel i5 or above

2. 1 TB HDD

3. DVD RW

4. GTX 550ti or above

I appreciate all build ideas and suggestions that you guys have to offer!, thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot guys!,

Just a quick question, if I decided to get a PCI 2.0 Express GPU would it work in a PCI 3.0 (X16) slot, if yes iwould there be a disadvantage?

Haha I shouldve put a question mark after the first question too! :). So just to clarify my PCI-E 2.0 GPU will work fine in a PCI-E 3.0 slot but just run as if it were in a PCI-E 2.0 slot?

Correct.

Also the slot will only be PCI-E3.0 with a Ivybridge CPU in the board.

If you used a 2500K for example (Sandybridge) then the 3.0 slot will only operate at 2.0 as the actual CPU has the PCI-E controller on its die. (the slots are wired directly to the CPU)
