Hi guys,

A friend is putting together a £600 PC which will be used for some 1080p gaming. Please could you tell me if these items listed below are all fully compatible (i have checked just need some 2nd opinions) and is there any mistakes or anything that could be improved without pushing the price up.

The i5 is a solid option too, though non-OC so you may not want the CPU cooler (comes with stock cooler)..

Cheers man, you kinda specced us the same AMD build we already had though. So i take it everything in the spec i listed will work ok then? Yes Intel option we were considering but also trying to keep the total close to the budget. That AMD CPU is perfectly capable though? plus is can be overclocked a bit.

The watercooler you specced on the AMD one hasnt got AM3+ compatibility is that a problem?

Would be nice to get 1 more second opinion so we can correlate the info, friend wants to build this as soon as possible.

Thanks again.

So the Seidon cooler will work then, just that on ocuk listings it doesnt say AM3+ thanks for checking for us.

Will probably go for the AMD all things considered aslong as its capable of playing games we're good.

Thanks.

Back again :(

He's running into some problems during first boot stage. First boot there was no video signal and there was some red led, this turned out to be just a loose lead. Now we've run into a couple other problems. Firstly the CPU and cooler are now being powered but the computer powers off within 5 seconds so still no video signal. Also we've noticed on the listing and spec of the Mobo is says:

4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 2133(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066 MHz ECC, Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel Memory Architecture

* Due to CPU spec., AMD 100 series CPUs support up to DDR3 1066MHz. With ASUS design, this motherboard can support up to DDR3 1333MHz.

Not sure what it means by that is it 1333mhz or 1600mhz with specific cpu?

He is using http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-079-AR&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 which is 1600mhz.

Is this not compatible then and causing the system to shutdown?

Any help would be appreciated.

Power to the CPU? Yeah that's properly connected now red CPU LED has gone and CPU fan spinning. But now the computer powers off during boot up no signal on the monitor too.

The card needs two power connectors plugged in to it.

Is the Seidon cooler fan cable plugged in to the CPU fan header? and correctly?

Try one stick of RAM at a time.

Clear the CMOS (power off, pull the battery, refit battery)

He went for the Corsair H60 cooler in the end and yes that is plugged into the CPU fan header.

Tried one stick and different same frequency RAM. No joy. Pretty sure he's got 6+8 cables powering the graphics card.

Will try clearing the CMOS.

Is the 1600mhz RAM ok?

Thanks for your help mate.

He did the CMOS reset. Boot device led is coming up now. Said he got some video signal on the monitor but again then system just powered off before he could do anything.

Triple checking the wiring but still shutting down.
