Your very lucky, there are a few people who couldn't unlock theirs so the gods must love you!

First time I have ever got that lucky. I did lots of research as you mentioned in another ppst and that research paid off with the right motherboard to do it and great upgrade potential. The guys on her really helped firm up (oooeeerr!!) my choices and gave great support/feedback.

Cheers

Dave

ok so heres what i am planning to get...i took parts recommended in this thread and i hope they are compatible

i chose the OCZ psu over the Corsair one for the extra 50 watt and since it has similar pricing to the Corsair one, i thought the OCZ seems to be more worth it.

also would i need to get any additional things like the thermal paste for when i put the computer together? any further advice is appreciated before i make my final decision =D .

Hey Cosmicolor,

that looks grand! :) . . . PSU, Hard-drives, Mobo/Memory manufacturers pretty much can be fine tuned to the individuals personal favourites so no problems there!

The retail processors come with a heatsink + pre-applied TIM so your all good!

Have fun and let us know how you get on!

It's worth getting a tube of proper thermal compound like mx-3 as the pre-applied one is useless : ).

Cost you just few quid and will last you for ages.

Nah! :p

The stock heatsink and TIM is fine, these chips run so cool there is absolutely no need to faff about with cooling . . .

We need to always be mindful of the person we are helping, poor Cosmicolor is getting pulled up, down, left, right, getting told this, then getting told that, it's just all to much! :D

I'm gonna stick with him to make sure he's all good, feel free to help out if you want but there are plenty of other nOObzillas who could benefit from your expertise!

Cosmicolor you knocking about somewhere still? :)

haha yes just looking around a bit more before i buy everything since the mobo is out of stock here =( .

and now i am stuck in getting a monitor as i have been told to get this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=BG-090-SA&groupid=595&catid=670&subcat= and there seem to be good reviews about it when i did some research. however since it's B grade i am kind of skeptical in getting it or not as they "may" be scratches...

ok i have placed my order for the parts except the graphics card as i found out that there is a 5830 coming out soon, so i decided to wait and see how it goes since i am not in a hurry to get the computer built.

thanks guys for the help, will keep posting if i have problems or whatsoever ^^;

Hey Cosmicolor,

of course you realise you don't have to wait as the motherboard has an IGP, you can get started as soon as your bits arrive, then after a few weeks when everything is done and tweaked you will be ready to purchase your GPU for some serious gaming prospects! :D

No problem . . . . choosing the parts for your first build and then actually getting the thing built is basically a baptism by fire! . . .it's just gonna get easier and easier from this point forward!

Glad I have been able to help!
