So far looking at a bundle for

AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition (125w)
8gb 12800 DDR3 (at least 6gb)
A compatible motherboard with overclocking ability and onboard graphics for hydrid crossfire, onboard surround sound (currently looking at ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO)
ATi HD 5770 1gb 850MHz
600w or more PSU
1TB Hard drive SATA II
case..obviously
Better cooler than stock so I can do overclocking..

Would anyone change anything here... like the motherboard model to have DDR2 instead of DDR3, is the price difference big?

Looking at a eBay bundle atm.. AMD Phenom II X4 965 + 8GB 1600MHZ(looks brandless) ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO for £330
Found the 5770 for £120 new and delivered, HDD for £50

That would leave £100 max for case, psu, and a better cooler..

Costs only include the system..

Sounds good, I will look at all this stuff soon, as I am not at home and have to go at the moment, but good recommendations, I notice ****** has this PSU... good or not good... Arctic Power 700W PSU - With PCI-E, 4x SATA, 20+4, ATX12V, 8pin +12V Connectors - Retail Boxed - has 75 good reviews, 5 star average rating

I'm thinking maybe I will get 4gb ram branded(OCZ most likely) and then I may leave any upgrades to the future for RAM to save a bit, but I haven't worked out costs yet

I told you to sort the trust.

I do trust

Casecom 6788 + a Be Quiet 530W

Case looks very good and cheap, PSU looks good, around the same price as the others, think I may go for that case, but I haven't made my mind up yet...

I just looked for branded ram, 4gb, found these, all about the same price, anyone have a favourite.. I'm betting corsair..

(cheapest to most expensive but only £17 in it)
Kingston HyperX 4Gb DDR3 1600MHz (2x2Gb) Memory Kit
OCZ Gold 4Gb (2x2Gb) DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit
Corsair XMS3 4Gb DDR3 1600 (2x2Gb) Memory Kit - CL9
Corsair Dominator DHX 4Gb DDR3 1600 (2x2Gb) Memory Kit

Thinking the XMS3 ram.. unless dominator is noticeably better.

Now can't decide between Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H and Asus M4A785TD-V Evo but thinking.... Gigabyte

Roughly brings my total to £577, but need to add some postage on to some items

Down to PSU, looking at all these for around £50:

OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w
Thermaltake W0093R 500W TR2
OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent Power Supply
OCZ 600W StealthXStream
Tagan Super Rock TG 680w
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500w
Be Quiet 530W Pure Power

OK, really the difference in processors imo.. is too small for the difference, I mean all the Phenom II's go up a little bit each one in price and speed.

8gb was a original target, now going for 4gb, these ones: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-154-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517 if I want to go to 6 -8 then I still can in future.

I'm thinking in total...

AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition (125w)
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5770 XXX Edition
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3
Sony AD7241S 24x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer & RAM Burner + LightScribe
Corsair XMS3 DHX 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1600C9DHX Twin3X
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO
OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent Power Supply
Casecom 6788

Total with postage = £582.60

I don't think I'll get a better cooler atm, I think I'll stick with this :)
