Hi all. I'm currently in the process of doing my direct access and looking to get a 600cc bike when I pass. I am 6 ft 4 and 16st so looking for a bike for a tall rider. I had a look around a dealership last week and sat on a few bikes. Liked the look of a street triple but found it a bit too cramped. The most comfortable bikes I sat on were the CBF600 and a Bandit. Has anyone else got any other ideas of bikes that would suit me?

How much are you looking to spend on a bike as that narrows the field down so we can help more. im 6.6 some bikes fit and some don't rode a cbr600f no problems also a yam thundercat if your looking for a faired bike about a grand

Are you after a sports orientated bike or naked/ upright , price range ? we could go from a honda 600 hornet upto a bmw s1000xr

I am 6'2" and I started on a er6-F and I thought it felt big enough for me, however the wife once took a photo of me on it and it appeared small, not too sure if it was the camera angle though (shall go and see if I can find photo)

Nowadays I have a bandit, albeit the 1250cc variant. I looked at a 600 bandit, when I was buying the er6 and I thought to myself "bloody hell, these are heavy" but it was my first bike.

Don't discount the Cruisers.
A lot of short riders go for them because they think low-to-ground = Great for short legs. Then they reach for the controls...
I ended up starting with Cruisers myself because they fit my long limbs and were comfy.

Also, with the way the power is delivered, the larger engines are often still quite easy to ride even as a first bike.
The Yamaha 950 range are pretty good, but you could look to the 1100, 1300 or perhaps even higher.

You need to give us a better idea on price & your usage then we can give an informed opinion, I'm 6ft 5.
For starters you can try this Ergonomic chart, Just choose the bike then choose another bike & you can compare the two & put your height etc in.

I have a Versys and although it appears quite tall it is actually only slightly better than most others - I'm 6'3" - there's not a lot of room.

Try a Triumph Tiger.
I want one and may start looking for one soon.
I sat on one in the dealers a couple of years ago and there seemed to be loads of room and I felt it the kind of bike you could stay on all day.
The Versys seat is horrible btw, 2 hours and I'm done.

The Versys has it's place as it's pretty nippy, good handling, economical and slightly less cramped than others but it has a lot of bad points too - it's a bit vibey, the seat is bad, you have to alter a lot of things such as lower footpegs, taller widshield etc to make it into a decent bike.

They improved the versys in the 2015 model, they rubber mounted the engine to stop the vibes, idk if its still the same seat height

Don't for a second think the Tiger seat is any better than the Versys as it's not. I've had both and I've had to have a gel pad thing on both.

Hi just to answer a few question I am in the West Midlands. As for usage it will be mostly social riding with some motorway commuting (30 mins) on nice days. I'm looking to spend up to £4000. Think I will be going for a cheap bandit as my first rider then upgrading to a nicer 600 in a few months until I have enough confidence to get a big bike
