Hi there,
I'm looking to upgrade to full frame in the new year. Was going to sell my 60d along with my 17-55mm lens on ebay around November, then buy a 6d in January (i have a 550d to keep me sane in December ;)
Yesterday i noticed that Wex are offering a bonus £100 on part exchange if you buy a 6d before november, so i decided to request a quote for the body and lens.
Today they've emailed me a quote for £690, with the bonus it would be £790.

Has anybody used ebay to sell their 60d or 17-55 recently? Could i expect a lot more than wex are offering? Looking at current offerings on ebay hasn't given me a real indication of what to expect. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

With eBay there is a lot of luck unless you put in a solid minimum price, but then you might not get the interest. Then there are the fees and the risk that the buyer tries to screw you.

I would never sell on eBay, try and sell in the papers or whatever the UK equivalent of craigslist is. Demand pick up only.

Also check if any of your local camera stores would buy the camera. You might get a good offer. In particular the lens you should get a fair price for when selling second hand, bodies depreciate a lot while lenses tend to loose 20% of their retail value and then sit at that price for years and years.

Used 60d's body only generally go for around £400 on ebay (i've been trying to snipe myself one lol), the 17 - 55 f2.8 go for £425 - £450.

Might be worth seeing what LCE (branch in Manchester) would offer. I'd probably take the part-ex option to avoid the scammers and idiots on eBay.

Thank you all for the feedback, I agree about ebay - I've had problems on there in the past with stuff I've sold.

Based on Sh4rkie's estimates, I'd be looking at 850 - 900, minus selling fees if I did go down the ebay route.

I'll check out LCE too, thanks for that tip!

Final value fees are 10% up to a maximum of £75 IIRC, so you could be very close to what WEX have already offered.

Very true, plus I'd probably have to sell them separately to get the most interest - so I could end up paying more than £75 in fees for the body and the lens...
