Hi guys,

Tomorrow me and mrs are going out for a meal to celebrate my birthday, to local place that happens to do a few challenges...

One of which is a 60z steak, which i have selected to try.

This will be my first challenge i've ever attempted and was just looking for some advice on how best to tackle this meat mountain.

Over the course of the last few weeks i've seen a few brave souls try to beat it and fail, the meal comes with a huge pile of chips too (1 pound i believe) which i think will be the hardest part..

I'd like to think i can put plenty of food away, back in my army days i don't think it would cause me any grief at all, but a much less intense life after has no doubt lowered my eating capacity.

Anyone ever tried anything similar and got any advice?

Thanks

Yeah wont be getting any birthday sex, not afterwards anyway. You'll be in pain and hating life.
I tried a 4lb burger and well failed miserably(i was miserable for hours afterwards). i tried the eat super fast and fall the body, but didn't work.
Just go for it have fun and make sure you can get home to the sofa in as least hassle as possible.
Drink as little as possible, just enough to keep saliva up.
Oh and get food network channel on and start watching man vs food. They have a few episodes on every night from 3:30pm today.

Cheers Glaucus,

I'm under no illusions that i'll do it, if i do then great, but fun is the name of the game:)
Congrats on gayest forum username.
Yes your right...lysander, cheers bud;)

whats the name of the place your going?
Grills steakhouse in pontypridd volt.

Do you have to eat the (what looks like) mushrooms?

I think I'd manage the steak (with meat sweats) and struggle through the chips, but there's no way I'm eating fungus.

I'm not really sure Gilly TBH,

I assume that everything has to be eaten, but could be wrong.

I think i'll do the steak, but the chips, mushrooms will hurt.

Live about 20 minutes away, been several times. You should try the 108oz burger.

Friend tried the mixed grill challenge last time we was down there, poor bugger hates mushrooms so they made him swap out for 3 extra sausage and 6 eggs.
Ah good to have someone local with knowledge of the place cheers Kai.

I took one look at the burger one and decided it's not for me:eek: Has anyone ever done it?
only drink water and only little bit. The obvious dont eat a lot on the day. Only eat what you need. Pre cut the meat and just go for it as fast as you can and be prepaired for the food wall. If you go fast you have around 20 minutes to eat it before you start to feel really full.

Great advice cheers Swift;)

No, the idea is if someone completes the challenge they increase the size of the burger and they get to name the next burger. Last challenge was complete by a very thin young women "apparently" Last burger was 96oz in size.

48oz is enough for me! then I hit the food coma, meat sweat as the burger goes stodgy as the cheese get's cold.

Oh i see,

That burger would destroy me, i think the missus is going to try the desert one.

hahaha good luck it's insane. A good friend tried this challenge, she is the biggest dessert person ever and considering we had been dieting for a photo-shoot she destroyed it.

if I recall it's

1 x fudge cake or chocolate cake (the 4-6 people sharing type) metled in middle
6 scoops ice-cream
6 brownies
pack marshmallows
about 12 - 15 profiteroles

She decided to drive home, just past the Castle we had to pull over as she had blurry vision and shaking - was hilarious. No sugar for close to 12 weeks then that! big time sugar rush!

Hahaha,

May have to book a taxi...

Cheers for the support guys i appreciate it,

There are an awful lot of fails on the FB page.
Speed is the key i think, going to have a small breakfast in the morning and hope for the best come the challenge, worst case scenario is that i leave the place with a belly full of delicious steak and a few pound heavier:D

Well guys,

Sorry for the late reply but it's taken me up until now to muster the energy required to do so.

I went into this challenge knowing it would be hard, but..WOW... it's much more difficult than i first thought.

The steak was huge as you'd expect a 60oz steak to be, but it was also extremely thick in places.

My plan was to cut it up in to smaller pieces, then just consume as fast as i could, leaving the chips till last.

I got through the first half quick in about 15mins, but was hit by the wall shortly after.
The other side of the steak contained much more fat and gristle, which according to the rules all has to be eaten to win.

This combined with the time it takes to chew resulted in me calling quits with around 15oz of steak, most of my chips, and mushrooms left.

Talking to the owners afterwards the record is the entire meal finished in 30mins:eek:

How this is possible i just don't know. lol

Had a great night though and would recommend to anyone in the area to try.

Few pics on their FB page too.
