6200 Pipeline unlock question

Hi, has anyone tried unlocking the extra pixel pipelines on a Geforce 6200 card? Did this work?

Been reading up on it, seems to be simple enough - basically im wanting a quiet card with low power use to go in my girlfriend's PC, AGP, but that can run the odd game of C&C generals now and again.

Reckon this is worth doing? I've found a place selling the 6200 new for £23, so even if I b0rk one I can always RMA it, unlike a 2nd hand job which would then just be toast!
 
Only the orginal 6200's unlocked to 6600 (im talking the first couple of months) They had 6600 PCBs. You wont find any new now.
 
Cheers for that Lanz, didnt really know anything on the history of these things - though that seems perfectly logical.

I'l stear clear I think, I can get a 7600GS for just shy of £50 - might get that and slap a Zalman cooler on it and see what it clocks to!! :p
