6300...is this out of date?!

E6300 is a great chip. I went from E6300 to Q6600 and it's only under really intensive workloads that the quad shows its worth. Consider that the E1200 and the E2xxx series are still popular choices - the 6300 will be just as quick once overclocked and will probably do everything you ask of it.

The 2180 might well clock higher (due to the multi, it's x10 where the 6300 is only x7) but the 63 has more cache and is probably cheaper if you can find one.

I have had my [email protected] for the past 18 months and it has not let me down once. Never had to crank the vcore above 1.337v and it's been in 3 different boards. Currently in a P35. It will hit 3.4Ghz comfortably but I don't need it.

It has done me very proud. Has not let me down when gaming and even performs excellent when I batter it with FSX. :)

It's good to read this thread as I've been itching to get a Q6600 to replace my E6400. Now I think I should just get another 2GB of RAM and maybe a 4870 until the next big thing is out :)

Keep it

Again another one here been running mine solid for 2 years ish.

I vary mine between 2.9Ghz and 3.3 depending on my mood or if im bored
