Is it worth the extra £100 for a 6600 over a 6300 what sort of clock diffrence will i see using P5W deluxe and Corsair (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400 (TWIN2X2048-6400C4D) DOMINATOR

No it's not worth it. Just go with the 6300 and overclock. Aim for 3GHz and anything above is a nice bonus. You may be able to hit 3.4GHz or even higher. :)

edit: I'd recommend a 965 based board over a 975 one for a 6300. The Gigabyte DS3 and the Asus P5B are both good choices. Is there a specific reason for choosing the P5W?

The peformance gain is minimal (next to nothing in gaming!) and not worth the 90% extra if you plan on overclocking.

I'm glad I made the right decision after lots of research. My stuff arrives for wed :D

Yes dark_shadow..you made the right choice...i have come from an E6600 to an E6300 and it is surely not worth nearly 100 more...i was just glad there was someone willing to trade me an E6300 and what a BEAUT it was to ( in me sig) also the components you picked would have been my choice if i were buying now as seen many good results with them....just would have been torn between the 2 Asus boards the delux + the cheaper plus hard choice but both top boards anyway.....good luck with the o/c ;)

think

Hi there I think it is only worth getting the E6600 if you don,t intend to overclock it ,then you will have the speed ,but as has been said the E6300 is the best buy for u
