im currently using 32bit vista 2gb

but i get my new comp 2moro with 4GB and i understand i need to use 64bit to use the full 4GB

but can 64bit do everything 32bit can?like gaming, voice chats bla bla and p2p downloading?

or is it for programs likephotoshop?

im nub :P

Yes of course it can. 64 bit Vista can run many programs that run in Vista 32 bit. All the driver issues have been ironed out IIRC.

its just like the standard OS, but it takes advantages of 64Bit.

most (if not all) programs can be run as 64Bit operating systems are backwards compatable with 32Bit apps.

therefore you should run into no problems

or **** i download it :( *cough*

No one on OCUK Pirates! :D:p

Just gone from 32 bit XP to 64 bit Vista and im over the moon, COD4 and COH OF performance is spot on, all driver work fine and Vista's ability to make efficiant use of the ram is great.

4Gb in Vista64 quite often runs slower than 2Gb in Vista32 due to the fact that it has to allocate twice as much space for every number it stores. If you want a real performance improvement all the time, you really need 8Gb of RAM and Vista64.

Just get XP64 (in any manner you see fit). Its about the same as vista 64, minus the need for 8gig of ram and the looks (im not a bit aero fan really) and WOW64 (windows on windows emulation to have 32 bit apps in the 64 bit world) is really really good! (so long as your not trying to play games in dos box or something random like that). Any way welcome to the 64 bit world!

I'm running XP-64 here and I've got less issues than when I was running vista 64bit

Not had a single problem finding a driver for my P5K-Deluxe

Prefetch was nice in Vista and the new start menu, but that was about it. Don't really care about aero, it's hardly like you use it when you play a game.

XP has prefetch, Vista has Superfetch, an enhanced version of XP's. No problems with drivers for Vista x64 you will have more problems finding drivers for XP 64 for some hardware.

do yourself a favour and buy a legit copy

otherwise you'll be faffing around with cracks and wreslting the pc when ms bring out new windows updates (windows updates are good)

vista is the first os i've ever used the 'documents' and 'pictures' and 'music' sections, the fact that you can move each one individually is awesome

'My Music' just looks gay :p

i didnt find any difference moving from vista 32 to 64 with 4gb of ram:)

Agreed, I also make a lot of use of the "Downloads" folder, very useful and tidy. Yes I know you can make one yourself in XP.

The only software I want to use that won't play ball on Vista x64 is the nokia phone updating software at present.

Everything else has been great :D
