If you mean the Turion based ones which undoubtedly you do then the only thing I can say is that from what I know their performance is not on par with similar specced 2mb cache centrinos so unless your buying from a value perspective you may get better battery life and cpu power from a centrino instead.

Actually from what i know they are just about as good as a Pentium M (Centrino), & considering they are also 64bit, they seem like a very good option. :)

They are in essence re-branded Mobile Athlons. They usally present very good value for money, especially in HP laptops with laptops at even 699 boasting 1024mb of Ram. Hps laptops generally however will be running shared intel graphics cards at around that price - so as long as you are not after gorgeous gaming, HP laptops tick every other box for my customers :)

or spend £1400 and get a better one with a graphics card that doesnt suck total ass.

e.g. the dell XPS with 7800gtx
or Rock CT with 7800gtx

both with pentium M's, or athlon 64 single or dual core + 2 gig of ram

if gaming is what you really want it for then i wouldnt go with something lame like a x700 or 7300

im not sure about the mobility versions, but the X700Pro is about on par with a 9800Pro which is by no means a bad card :)
