Dear all,

I've just purchased my Titan Vulcan and I'm quite happy with it as I'm finally playing my games maxed out! Games like DOW2 and what not just plays really well! I'm about to buy Empire:Total War soon to see how thats like!

Now here comes my issues.

I've reformatted my PC 3 times since I bought it. It just seems that when I click certain programs it just wont work or its slow to boot up. Even installing items seem really slow at times. Just really bugging me at the moment. Installing my catalyst drivers for exapmle is taking way too long. And this has happened with a lot of programs. Even when I installed DOW2.

Is there a rule of thumb where by you should always use 64 Bit Programmes and avoid 32 bit ones?

Could it also be, that the overclocking isn't working as its supposed to be and is making my system unstable? I've never touched any overclocking. It was just overclocked by OCUK.

Apologies with the stupid questions. Just wondering if its just me though.

I think I may have a similar problem to you. :( I have an Excel spreadsheet that takes a while to load up and let me input text.

When you install catalyst drivers and other programs, do you turn your AV off? Assuming you have one.

Perhaps you could try running stability tests such as orthos and memtest as well as a diagnostic utility specific to your brand of hard-drive see if there's anything at fault with the hardware.

In my experience Vista 64-bit flies in comparison to 32-bit and I can't say I've been able to discern any difference between running a 32-bit app or 64-bit app under vista 64-bit.

Hi buddy. Yes i do have catalyst drivers. But i'm not sure what AV is. By default, I've not touched anything for that matter.

However, do you reckon these little issues are down to the system being overclocked? I really dont understand. I've had my old system for a year and a half running a 64bit and never had any issues.

I dont have issues with Excel. Having said that, I've not been using it that much at home these days. However, my outlook is constantly and I do mean constantly plagued with issues.

New issue. Tried to rip Wonderland by Pete Tong into my itunes and computer keeps freezing for some reason. Either its a Bad CD or there's something not right!!!

Any thoughts gents? I'm using the Titan Vulcan. Are there any known issues with this system? I certainly haven't heard anything adverse about it though. I think the problem is as I'm still learning about computer systems, I can't really pinpoint the exact problem.

Sigh... :(

If it is the overclocking that is the problem it is weird it is happening now. You could try reducing the overclock settings and see if that works but you got it from OcUK so it should be properly set up. :)

Perhaps try Memtest as suggested above?

look in the reliability and performance program on vista and see what if any software crashes are happening also monitor your system status from that as you launch software/apps that cause this slow down

Yup. Will definately run that tonight. I know that if its from OCUK its gonna be fine no doubt. But just need to be sure tonight. will post here with details!

cheers guys!

Startup Programs are causing windows to start slowly. - Kapersky Antivirus

Firstly is this normal? Thats insane surely if its taking 53.1 seconds. Note that its an 32bit Version which I bought from Micro Anvika on Tottenham Court Road.

In the Event Viewer in Vista, I'm going to copy and paste what it says as well.

Are ALL these normal?? I dont get it. I reformatted computer 3 times now.

I can't say I've had any issues with x64 vista (only used xp and x64 vista) although I did remove kaspersky (using avg now) as it seemed to be slowing my system down. Booting with a network mapped drive does (in my opinion) slow boot times by a small amount too.

When I did have kaspersky I did set a delay in the options so that it didn't scan until a few minutes after everything had loaded :)
