64 Bit Vista...worth getting?

I currently use 32 bit vista on my system (see below for spec).
I mainly use it for music, films, internet with some gaming (Spore, Assassins creed, CnC3).
Is it worth the upgrade? I have never tried 64 bit before so am not too sure of the benefits...all I have heard are the negatives (driver support etc).
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Could running games be a problem?

Most driver-related issues were ironed out ages ago - most games now run at least on a par with XP. Glad I made the switch as overall Vista has been a lot more stable. As already noted if you have 4gb of RAM you should have no problems.

YES!!! As the above posters have said, since you'll then be running all 4gb of RAM Vista should run very smoothly.

I'm using vista HP x64 with 4gb and it is really snappy

Games work better on Vista x64 for me than they did on XP. I had LESS compatibility problems with them. I would make the switch.

Since you have 4GB of RAM yes

4GB RAM make very little difference going from 32 to 64bit, I know this because I did that last week and today got the Gskill 4GB addition from OCUK to make 8GB.

The reason the difference is negligible is because of the extra RAM used by the 64bit addressing so the RAM you gain is quickly gobbled by 64bit so in order to benefit from 64bit you need above 4GB RAM.

Let me tell you this, I have never seen my HDD this quiet EVER in Vista! I don't think it's caching much at all! Photoshop CS3 loads in 3<~ seconds after a cold boot and Vista desktop loads much quicker.

The upgrade form 32 to 64bit is free so all you will be spending is around £70 or less for another 4GB RAM. Well worth it.
