64-Bit XP vs Sata Drivers

I am furious. I cannot get my head around this problem.

I'm trying to install Windows XP Pro 64-bit Edition on my MSI Wind U135 laptop. I get a BSOD when booting from USB, which I am told is because one of two things: I'm trying to install with AHCI mode enabled, and/or I need sata drivers. I disabled AHCI, and it still happens.

I'm clearly wrong, but I thought that SATA drivers weren't a problem with 64-bit Editions? Or am I thinking of ones with SPs?

Anyway, I'll be damned if I can find a relevant drivers. The HDD is Western Digital WD1600BEVT. Any ideas?

Thank you :)

The drivers are for your mobo sata ports, service packs negate the need more or less. Download the service packs and slipstream them onto a cd of it, or get the drivers for the mobo and at the f6 prompt load them up then.

XP is terrible for SATA drivers, pressing F6 during installation wont be much good as IIRC XP will look for a floppy.

Best bet is to slipstream

good point about it looking for a floppy, forgot about them. I have one I could loan though if you really need it, just pay postage :)
