I'm looking to pickup a laptop or two in the near future but I would prefer to get one with Vista 64bit already installed.

I've checked around and many of the usual e/retailers are selling 32bit systems apart from a select few custom builders who offer 64bit as an option.

I have noticed that some US e/retailers are beginning to advertise 64bit systems from the big name brands but that is of little use to me until the same is more common place in the UK.

On the Lenovo UK website they list some of the ranges coming with 64bit Business but I can never find a model number that confirms 64bit over 32bit.

Without naming competitors, are there manufacturer model numbers in the UK for 64bit systems (not just Lenovo)??

Iv never really seen it...

I think theres a few odd reasons for it; firstly iv never seen a laptop capable of having more than 4 gig of ram in it (though i havnt seen it as a priority)
Also the people who make the things tend to be a bit screwy with the hardware they use and tend not to always do 64bit drivers (or working 32bit ones *cough acer cough*) or linux drivers (different matter)

For those reasons alone i cant really see the point of 64 bit windows on a laptop (yet!)

Try looking at some of the business parts of manufactueres websites as the ones I've seen tend to be business orientated laptops.

i have an 18 month old laptop and the driver support in Vista 64-bit is better than in 32-Bit XP.
