Hi guys about to go for a 13900k build and then wondered which to go for.

Probably either going Kingston Fury Beast 6000mhz ddr5 32gb or 64gb @ 5600.

I will be doing Lightroom work with 24mp raw files and occasional Photoshop and rest of the time 3440x1440p gaming.

Many thanks,

Jules

64gb is what I would get if lightroom is your primary use, you may not use it all but it will be available for other tasks.
Thanks Micky, pc will be 50/50 for Lightroom and gaming really. So hard to tell if the extra g’s are going to help more than the loss on ram speed. My gut feeling is it’s probably a bit of a moot point?

If you're thinking of the £200 64GB 5600 C40 kit, it would perform fine. You won't notice the difference with 6000 outside of benchmarks or competitive low setting 720p/1080p.

64GB all day long.

Honestly I wouldn't buy a gaming desktop with less than 32GB these days, if it's aimed at more 'professional' use like lightroom/photoshop/3D I'd be aiming at 64GB minimum.. plus desktop ram is fairly cheap at the moment. In fact I'm looking to upgrade my laptop from 16 to 64GB, I just wish ddr5 sodimms were a little cheaper lol

Nice one guys, I'll aim for the 64gb. My feeling was there's nothing really in it for the ram speed anyway as 13900k doesn't really benefit much over 5600 from my understanding. Cheers!

You could add an Intel Optane drive as a caching drive if you wanted to go 32gigs but I agree with the others that you should go for 64gigs

Thanks guys, I'm a bit confused which Fury Beast ram I need - there's 5600mhz 2x 32gb kit and 6000mhz 2x 32gb kit Kingston manufacture.. Both seem to have the same latency timings (40-40-40). I'll be putting them in the msi mag z790 tomahawk wifi (lga 1700) ddr5 atx motherboard. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/king...l-channel-kit-kf556c40bbak2-64-my-29v-ks.html

I'd copy the model codes and stick them in the QVL of the motherboard, if you get a hit I'd probably buy that one (unless it is much more expensive).

Edit: I think I got a hit with KF556C40BBK2-64

Thank you both. For the qvl is it just whatever Google throws up/manufacturer site or a particular resource you recommend?

Many thanks

Can I ask you how would you setup the Optane with lightroom and photoshop? Would one see great benefits? Tia

As fair as I know, you just install the drive and follow this guide and it makes the OS treat the drive as additional memory.

Not sure if you can use Optane in the same way for AMD but there is support for Optane for some AMD devices.
